i'd consider myself very patriotic. though i think primarily in a language not mine (english), i absolutely love brazilian portuguese and everything to do with this country. one of my favorite writers of all time is Clarice Lispector, and my favorite language to write poetry in is pt-br. sometimes i tend to write more in the elusive, illustrive, eloquent syntax that we have, purely because of this air that the language provides. though i love writing in the common, pure way of the coloquial portuguese.
when i started writing, one of the things that i struggled with a lot was the pacing of my ideas. sometimes i'd run over myself, or say a lot to what could (and very well should) be resumed to like two sentences. as time passed, however, i became increasingly better at using my words as a pen. the thing with portuguese is it's very strong. it has strong tones, voices in the pronunciation of every word. weaponizing that was such an elusive concept that i just had to chase. and chasing it is thrilling.
and that's what i really love about portuguese. some of my favorite songs use their words to convey and to say things outside of just their tone of voice. Joao e Maria by Chico Buarque is an amazing song, telling this love fall out and this desperation that comes with loving in every word of its lyrics. Tempo Perdido by Legiao Urbana (band) is also insanely good. a nice perspective on mortality and time in a way only they can do it.
i also love the food. we have a type of chocolate that's like a ball with chocolate sprinkles on it, called brigadeiro. just beautiful. a sweet literally called "milk sweet" (doce de leite) whose taste is divine. insanely good popsicles, a flavor of ice cream so good it's tradition in every corner of the country, and so much more. i could talk on and on about how much i just love this country and everything it offers.
but that's it for this post. i write a lot, i know. three posts in a single day is a lot LMAO. but!! i'm still going to be working whenver i can on the site, so expect some nice stuff in the future!! :OO
